My favourite book from this bunch was probably Flesh by David Szalay. Each chapter represents a time jump in the protagonists life which is a format that I really enjoyed and its a deserved winner of the man booker prize for 2025.

Normandy 44’ took me a while to finish and I probably started in early 2025. I feel compelled to read at least one history book a year and this was a superb one. I particularly appreciate the way that Holland ensures the human element of the story is not lost amongst the detailed descriptions of tactics, armoury and key events.

I finally plunged into the world of romantasy with Fourth Wing and I was hooked from about halfway through and I can give you a spoiler for the 2nd half of 2026, I read the next two books in the series.

Muybridge surprised me the most from this list as I had zero expectations going into it but finished it in one day and I enjoyed it a lot. An extraordinary story that really lends itself well to the comic book format.
